my future classroom
Every classroom, like every community, has its own distinct culture, values and rules. I look forward to building a classroom community that is both inviting and accepting of all students that celebrates multiculturalism and the diverse learners in the classroom. Establishing a positive learning environment early on in the year allows students to develop positive relations with their teacher and gather a sound understanding of develop rules, values and goals.
I endeavour to establish a welcoming, stimulating, nurturing, safe and productive classroom community that best fits the diverse needs and interests of my students each year, allowing them to feel accepted and secure within the classroom walls. When a student feels accepted and secure in their environment, they are more likely to engage in learning and contribute to the community. Students funds of knowledge, interests and virtual schoolbags will be accessed early on to give myself a better understanding of how my students work best and as a basis for planning purposes. I look forward to immediately establish rules, routines and norms that fit the particular group of students, so students know exactly what to expect in the classroom. Students will be encouraged to voice their own opinions and feel comfortable to contribute to the classroom community. What my future classroom with look, feel & sound like |
homeworkopolyI created this Homeworkopoly game board on my last set of rounds. In order for the students to develop more productive patterns of submitting and completing homework and assigned tasks, I created the Homeworkopoly board as an incentive for students to complete their work. Attached to the board are chance/pick up cards and students are represented on the board with their school photos.
In order to play the game and roll the dice, students have to hand in their spelling, maths mate and any other homework set for the weekend by 9 am Monday. If all three items are placed in the tubs by 9 am Monday morning, students are able to play in the last 15 minutes of class Monday afternoon. The game board also incorporates Mathematics where students are given play money and are responsible for any board purchases they make. Prizes vary and are cost effective. Prizes may include; teachers assistant for the day, a food prize, sit on class couch, swap seats for the day and more. |
